Commissioning an original oil painting
A commissioned painting makes a very personal and unique gift which can provide years of enjoyment.
Commissioned paintings have proven of particular interest to private clients, interior designers and architects seeking the essential finishing touch or focal point for a room or area. There are an infinite choice of colours for commissioned paintings, as oil paints are carefully mixed to achieve any desired colour. A painting can, if you require, tone perfectly with furnishing fabrics, wall colours and/or room design in general. You may select and quote paint colours chosen from a colour chart, kindly supplied by Winsor and Newton, manufacturers of quality oil paints, please click on colour chart as a guide.
Fabrics can also be used as a colour reference. If you would like a painting colour matched to fabrics, we recommend that swatches be sent to us by special delivery.
Framed, unframed or box canvas
Painting can be ordered and commissioned as follows:
- Box canvases, 37mm deep, unframed and ready to hang
- Standard canvasses (18mm deep) unframed, or
- Standard canvas framed to our clients individual preference from a wide selection of quality frames
One design or image can be completed on one or more canvases if desired, to fill a particular wall space, which can create a stunning effect. For example, please see the set of paintings in the 'Gallery' section entitled ‘Mediterranean Skies’ - a set of four large canvases (110cm x 80cm each) portraying one scene, commissioned by a client for a large stairwell.
Delivery time
As a guide, please allow up to 10 to 12 weeks for completion of oil paintings, or 4 to 5 weeks if completed in acrylic paints when agreed if a faster delivery time is required for a particular occassion or completion date of a project. This timescale does not apply to caricatures, which are not completed in oil (please refer to 'caricatures' page). If you have a specific date to meet, please advise us at the outset and we will assess the timescale and advise promptly as to whether the date can be met before accepting your order.
Transit and Insurance
We deliver throughout the UK and worldwide, by secure and insured carrier. Please note that transit and insurance costs are competitive, at cost price to us, and are additional to the artwork cost. Safe and secure delivery of artwork is paramount to us!
